A common theme in our guest book is praise for the delicious meals enjoyed by our visitors.  Our head cook, Jo Pearce, believes in using fresh, local ingredients wherever possible.  Seasonal fruit and vegetables, including herbs, often come from the walled garden and you can’t get much fresher than that!


For groups and events, menus are arranged in advance in consultation with the cook.  Most ethnic and dietary requirements can be catered for, but it is essential that we are informed of these well before arrival.  We are accustomed to catering for vegetarian groups and have been commended by the Coeliac Association, who hold their annual Christmas Dinner at St. Katharine’s – our gluten-free sticky toffee pudding is a triumph.


If you are spending the day at St. Katharine’s then your morning break will be accompanied by home-made biscuits and in the afternoon you will enjoy home-made cake.


As well as producing tasty fresh dishes for everyday meals, Jo is never happier than when asked to cater for something special.  If you are planning a charity dinner for 100, a family lunch celebration for 50 or private dining for a small party then you will not be disappointed.  Your menu will be tailored to suit your taste and your budget.  Imagine yourself hosting a small dinner party for important clients or a special family occasion in the intimate atmosphere of the library while enjoying a first-class dinner.


Jo and her team also do a small amount of outside catering, so if you can’t have your event at St. Katharine’s, you may still be able to enjoy our delicious food.
