House entrance

Your introduction to St. Katharine’s will be the Entrance Hall

Entrance Hall

This is a large room, an excellent reception area, where the imposing fireplace can greet guests in winter with a log fire.  It also contains a baby grand piano.

Opening off the entrance hall are two Sitting Rooms.

Green Sitting Room

The tranquil Green Sitting Room has French windows leading to the garden and can seat up to 10 people in comfy sofas and armchairs.  It provides another space for relaxation or small informal meetings.

The elegant Blue Sitting Room looks out onto the Cedar tree and grounds and is furnished with sofas, armchairs, a window seat and a small table and four chairs.  It can accommodate up to 20 people for relaxation, informal meetings or seminars.  A TV can be provided in this room.

Passing the magnificent staircase you will come to the Libraries.  These are book lined rooms filled with a mixture of theological and more general literature which guests are free to browse.  Both these rooms have been filmed for episodes of Lewis and Endeavour as Oxford college studies and that is very much the ambience that they have.

The First Library contains a large table and chairs which seats 10 people and thus is a good room for small meetings or quiet study.  Smaller groups or individuals can also take their meals in this room if they prefer a more intimate atmosphere than the main dining room.

Inner Library

The Inner Library contains sofas, a table with 6 chairs and a desk.  It provides a peaceful sanctum for quiet meditation or a very private room for counselling, small meetings etc.

The Dining Room is a light, airy panelled room with full length windows opening onto the garden.  Meals are normally provided here on a self-service basis and 40 people can be comfortably seated at circular tables.  Guests can make themselves hot drinks here at any time and the room is a common space for all visitors throughout the day.
Dining Room

The Chapel/Main Hall is our largest room.  It is a consecrated Anglican chapel and may be used for formal or informal worship with a variety of flexible seating arrangements.

Chapel for worship

The Hall can also be used for other purposes.  For large meetings or conferences up to 120 people can be seated in formal rows.  As a large dining room, up to 100 people can be seated comfortably (120 ‘uncomfortably’) at banqueting tables.

Chapel empty___ Event

We can provide a data projector, screen and pa system, but electrical sockets are currently very limited in this room.

The Wendy House is a 1920s cabin in the grounds, 2 minutes’ walk from the main house, which is currently being refurbished and should become available in 2017.  It is a light, airy garden room with a small garden, overlooking the duck pond, which will provide space for a variety of purposes.  It has simple furnishings and a wood-burning stove but no running water so users will have to access other facilities in the main house.
