St. Katharine’s’ main purpose is to be a retreat house where people from all walks of life, from all faiths or none, can come to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the house and grounds and leave feeling refreshed physically and spiritually. You can come to the house in a group or individually, just for a day or for longer.
Our aim is to be as unobtrusive as possible so that you can make the house your own to suit your particular needs. If you wish to spend any part of your retreat in silence our staff will respect that. Larger groups may arrange to have exclusive use of the house and can be completely private, smaller groups and individuals will share some of the facilities but will have rooms designated for their exclusive use.
The main hall is a consecrated Anglican chapel and may be used for worship by all faiths.
RESIDENTIAL Retreat Charges
Prices vary according to the type of bedroom occupied and whether or not it is shared, there is a small discount for weekday use. A typical price for a residential weekend from teatime Friday to mid-afternoon on Sunday, including use of the ground floor rooms, would be £205 per person for a shared room with ensuite (£238 for single occupancy) or £190 in St. Joseph’s annexe. This would include Friday and Saturday evening supper, Saturday and Sunday continental breakfast, morning coffee and biscuits, a two course lunch, afternoon tea and cake. In addition, guests are free to make themselves hot drinks at any time.
A typical price for a stay between Sunday and Thursday night, per 24 hours would be £92 per person for a shared room with ensuite (£113 for single occupancy) or £86 in St. Joseph’s annexe. Again this would include evening supper, continental breakfast, morning coffee and biscuits, a two course lunch, afternoon tea and cake.
Please contact us for a more comprehensive list of prices.
Please note that the house is usually occupied by groups at weekends, however if we have a small group, who do not have exclusive use of the house, we may occasionally be able to squeeze in an individual or two.
Groups or individuals are welcome at St. Katharine’s for non-residential visits from Monday to Friday. (Weekend availability for day-only visits is very limited.) A full day visit from 9am until late afternoon including morning coffee and biscuits, a two course lunch, afternoon tea and cake plus unlimited hot drinks would typically cost £35 per person but may vary according to meal, facilities required etc..
Without meals but with unlimited tea and coffee is £18. If you just want to spend an hour or two in peaceful solitude then a small donation will suffice, but please check in advance that a quiet space will be available that day!
